Moments with my daughter

today was a nice and overcast day so it was perfect to take out the film camera our for a walk to the barn (all photos in post from iphone, can’t wait to develop the roll and hope that they come out).

we saw chickens, bunnies and walked over to the pond to see the turtles and fish.

it was about an hour of just taking our time, following the path and just enjoying the morning. after the pond, it was time to head to the library. i wasn’t really rushing but a bit hungry so wanted to get a move on.

the lil’ one was at her own pace, sometimes collapsing to the ground with a tantrum or rubbing her hands through the dirt and rocks. at one point, she picked up a bunch of little rocks and was sorting them one by one which you know is a slow process.

she handed me one smooth and flat rock. i was thinking that it was time to wrap it up and take her to the library but as i was looking at the rock and feeling the smoothness between my fingers, i was thinking of some wise words from a tumblr friend: “don’t be afraid to let her lead.” i thought that through a few times and figured that there was no rush to the library and if she wants to keep picking up every rock, branch and pinecone, then i’ll just keep collecting them for her.image

and with that thought running through my mind, four deers came out of nowhere from behind us and crossed our path to eat in front of us.

i love how my two year old daughter reminds me to slow down otherwise i could miss life passing us by.
