this zoo is by far my favorite zoo ever. because it’s a zoo…full of monkeys! and since it’s a zoo in the netherlands, they roam free with no cages (rather moats that keep them contained). i wrote about our first experience there in my personal blog two years ago so here’s the link so you can see some of the real highlights from my first time there (this trip? i only brought my 40mm pancake lens as i didn’t want to lug around all my gear since i wanted to enjoy the experience with my toddler). here are just some fun photos from this time around. my daughter was last here when she was one (if you checked out the personal link, she was so wee) and all she knew was that we were going to see monkeys. she did not have any idea of what was in store (we think that this stroller is from when my husband was a wee one, definite retro).
and then when she did discover the awesomeness of it? she had the most amazing adventure.
unfortunately we were rained out after a few hours so we didn’t get to spend more time with the tiny “deadhead” i.e. squirrel monkeys  that climb all over you but we’ll see them again on our next trip out here because it’s a must visit if you’re ever in the netherlands. though seeing them at the zoos back in the states in their cages will be a bit sad.
