Golden hour maternity session – San Jose photographer

goodness this maternity session just glows!

i originally met this glowing mama through a facebook group and reached out to her when i heard that she was from the netherlands. my husband is also from the netherlands so we thought that it would be great to have us get together for adult and little ones’ play dates (great for my daughter as it helps immerse her in hearing more dutch around her). we’ve been successful a few times with get-togethers though we still need to have our bbq 🙂 so when i heard that they were pregnant with their second and would like me to do their maternity session, i was happy to be able to capture this wonderful moment in their lives.

though the day of our session, i was a bit worried about our evening full of this beautiful sun because earlier in the day, the temperature hit 97F (36C)! way too incredibly hot for a session, especially for a pregnant mom and little one. luckily by the time we arrived in the san jose barn at 7p, it cooled down and we were able to enjoy the evening. their little one had a wonderful time exploring and seeing some chickens, turkeys, and even a deer. she loved being in the outdoors exploring the beautiful surroundings.

and swoon, just look at this amazing light from our evening, mama was already glowing but with this gorgeous setting sun, she radiates.

and speaking of the netherlands, i was excited to practice my preschool level dutch on this sweet little one. my pronunciation is pretty bad (though it seems that i can understand dutch pretty well. i was so surprised at our vacation last month at how much dutch i understood) but if it’s one thing that i really know how to say, it’s barn animals in dutch 🙂

on a side note, photographing maternity sessions are exciting for me. not only do i love seeing how much love there is for the future little one but it makes me excited for my own maternity session. it probably won’t be until august but i’m already planning something awesome for my maternity session, giggle. and i’m not shooting my own maternity session though it would be interesting to attempt with a toddler and a remote shutter again 🙂
