i’m a uc santa cruz alum and this was my first trip to wilder ranch! i’ve been to the beaches surrounding it but somehow have never gone into this state park and wow, i need to go back with the girls. the moment i stepped foot on it’s ground, i was in love with it’s subtle blend of rustic and victorian charm with amazing pockets light. so yes, this maternity session at wilder ranch in santa cruz was perfect.
what i love the most about maternity sessions is capturing the intimacy, togetherness, and quietness that both mom and dad have. it’s their time to cherish each other before two become three and that was this session. sweet moments between them surrounded by beauty. already so much love for their little and so much for each other that i think it shows with these moments.
i had a very hard time narrowing down this blog post with a few favorites because, well, they are all favorites but here is just a small snippet of some of my favorites. thank you, mom and dad, for a stunning session, and can’t wait for his arrival plus capturing his life at home with you guys (and folks, they have an incredible nursery that i’m super excited to photograph gaaah!).
this road that we shot at was also popular with the bicyclists so there were a few times that we had to pause to let them through (all while the sun was quickly escaping and those are long shadows that would also get in the way!). dad’s expression and mom’s expression towards him? well for those of you that know him can just imagine what was being said/thought 😀
