shutterfest conference recap

last year (link for last year’s shutterfest conference recap) i had the honor of being one of the first to attend sal cincotta’s shutterfest photo conference in st. louis, missouri, a kickass photo conference that makes sure you shoot, learn and party. this intimate conference was amazing as it gave us all the wonderful opportunity to learn from amazing speakers, take hands-on classes and network with great photographers. this year was even better. it was held at the st. louis union train station which is a phenomenal location. every where you looked, there were photo shoots being done and you could watch and learn, ask questions or even shoot. awesome right?!

one of the unique features of shutterfest is the ability to really shoot. there is a program called rent-a-human which is what it sounds like. with over 250 models, you can rent a model and take them out shooting. you can create your own theme, bring your own wardrobe or create something that’s been on your wishlist for ever. on my first day there, i went to borrow the 135L from canon (with canon being a sponsor, we were able to rent camera or lenses free of charge. i got to test so many wish list lenses, sweet perk right?!) and was immediately able to rent a mom and daughter to test out the lens.

here are just some photo highlights from this incredible conference. if you’ve been thinking of doing a photo conference but want something more intimate and unique, check out shutterfest. there’s a cap on attendees (around 1500) with it’s affordable price including everything from hands-on classes, intimate workshops, awesome platform speakers, rent-a-human, gear rentals and incredible vendors (lensbaby was there and i got to test out their new velvet 56 before it is even available to purchase! sweet goodness i want). it’s so important for myself (and i believe photographers) to continue educating, grow and network with other wonderful creatives and this conference encompasses all of that.

i have gone for the past two years and i have wondered if i will be attending next year. and i think that i will be skipping next year (not because i didn’t love it, i really do) because i want to try another conference or workshop. it’s so important for me to push myself each year with my photos and business so i want to try a conference that is something new that might push me even further. maybe another personal mentorship with a photographer i admire or a workshop. either way, each year i take time for myself and my business to push myself so who knows what i’ll do. and besides, i can always go back for shutterfest 2017 :) shutterfest conference, photosbykime, san jose photographershutterfest conference, photosbykime, san jose photographershutterfest conference, photosbykime, san jose photographershutterfest conference, photosbykime, san jose photographershutterfest conference, photosbykime, san jose photographer
