during a los angeles trip, i had the pleasure to photograph this sweet family to celebrate their little one’s one year birthday. our original location was set for brand park in the san fernando mission. it’s a gorgeous location that i have shot before and always love the golden hour light. i wanted to check out the location to see if the roses were in bloom to discover that there were about fifty photo shoots occuring celebrating weddings, quinceaneras, engagements, prom night and family sessions. that was a definite no to shoot here, especially with a one-year-old who can be distracted and i can only do so much with photoshopping out crowds.
so this family was awesome with a last-minute location change to a favorite hiking location in the san fernando valley. there were a few prom photos being taken but the best thing about those crowds is that the teenagers wanted to be done right away so we ended up having the park to ourselves which i think is the best.
we got to enjoy the orange grove and a grassy hill tucked over by the bathrooms (i can make any location work!) plus homemade mom cake! she didn’t seem to be a fan of the cake or icing and did manage to knock it over and crawl away from it. but oh little one, maybe one day you’ll love all the ooey gooeyness of homemade cake, because your mom bakes delicious goodies!
