I always get excited when I hear that a family wants to do their family photos at home! Home is home sweet home so knowing that our photo session will be at home is the best. There’s always dancing, silliness, snacks, and playtime. But there can be some nerves about opening up your home for professional photos. So as you start to prepare your home for photos, here are some tips:
- Declutter and Clean: Declutter your space and remove any unnecessary items that may distract from the main focus of the photos. Clear countertops, tidy up shelves, and organize furniture.
- Choose the Right Location: Select the areas of your home where you’d like the photos to be taken, like family game time in the living room or kitchen dance party and make sure those are the areas that are also clean.
- Pets and Children: If you have pets or young children, plan ahead to ensure they’re comfortable and cooperative during the session. Have treats or toys on hand to keep them engaged and prepare them that someone will be coming in to photograph in their space.
- Relax and Have Fun: Finally, relax and enjoy the experience! A relaxed and comfortable atmosphere will translate into natural and genuine photos. Trust in your photographer’s expertise and allow yourself to be present in the moment and your photographer will capture your memories.
