Garden Location Scouting – Palo Alto – San Jose Family Photographer
A few months ago, I had some time to spare in the Palo Alto area so I headed off to Elizabeth Gamble Gardens to check out the grounds to see the spring blossoms. I’ve heard about this location for many years through the photography networks and even attended a wedding about 10 years ago but never took time to just wander the location.
Whenever I explore a new location, I like to take cell phone photos to take photos so I can have a visual reminder of the location. From the beautiful landscaped gardens, to the different textures of wood or brick backgrounds, and a cute white house, I love how this location is great for family photos. It can be busy (on a weekday afternoon, there were already 3 photo sessions happening) so I can’t even imagine how busy this location is during peak photo hours (you know, golden hour). But if you’re thinking you’d like a garden feel for your family photos, maybe we can rock an early morning session here. But you know even mid-day, we can still rock photos here and avoid the photography rush.
Whenever I’m scouting for a possible location, there are a few things that I think of besides “how’s the lighting.” I like to make sure bathrooms are easily accessible (yes, they are), parking is accessible/free/close (yes, yes, yes) and it feels safe (yes, especially for little’s, it’s nicely contained).
