Tips for your upcoming ten-minute portrait pop-up – San Jose Family Photographer
Are you ready? A 10-minute pop-up sounds super short so preparation is key to making the most of your mini-session. You want to have awesome and fun photos from our time together so here are my tips for your family mini session preparation with your 10-minute photo session.
• Choose Coordinated, Comfortable Outfits
Clothing is a big role in the look and feel of your photos. Plan for coordinated outfits that complement each other since complementary is always better than matching. With colors, think of a palette that reflects personalities, like summer tones or vibrant colors. If you have kids, comfort is the best because itchy, tight clothes on kids (and even grownups) can make us feel distracted.
• Arrive Early
With only 10 minutes, arriving camera-ready is essential. This gives you time to park, tidy up, settle in, do any last-minute touch-ups. If you’re relaxed and ready to go, it sets the tone for a smooth, stress-free session.
• Keep it Light and Stress-Free
Kids pick up on stress quickly so let them know what the plan is, prepare them that there will be photos taken but it’s short and sweet, lighthearted and fun. Focus on enjoying the moment rather than getting the perfect shot or having everyone say cheese. Go into the session with an open mind and a flexible attitude.
• Communicate
If there are specific shots or groupings you want captured, communicate that ahead of time.
• Relax and Have Fun
You booked a family photo mini session to capture your family so show your family, relax, have fun, let your personalities shine.
