Whether it’s for your website, LinkedIn profile, or that upcoming networking event, your headshot tells your story before you even say a word. Here are some business photo tips to prepare you for your headshot photography session.
• Dress Like Your Most Confident Self
Pick an outfit that makes you feel put together and feel like you. Think of a strong power color, like maroon, navy, or jewel tones as they photograph beautifully and say “trustworthy professional” without being boring.
Skip bold prints and neon patterns (did you know neon colors reflect back onto your face?) but if you like patterns, think of pairing it with a blazer to tone down the patterns.
• Keep Hair and Makeup Simple
Stick with your usual hairstyle and go for natural makeup, especially if you don’t always wear makeup. A touch of powder with a little bit of color on your lips or cheeks can brighten you up for photos.
• Light jewelry
Wear a favorite necklace, with a strong color to pop. Tie it in with few bracelets or bangles along with a ring or two.
• Take a Minute to Breathe
Before our headshot photo session, take a moment to breath. Before you arrive, take a deep breath, stretch your shoulders, and shake out any nerves. Plus the shaking helps loosen up your arms, which is one thing that we never know what to do with in photos. So by loosening them up, it helps open you up and flow.
• Trust the Process and Have Fun!
I’ll guide you through poses, help find your best, and help capture you at your most natural, confident self, all while keeping it easy and fun.
