Thinking about fall portraits at Vasona Park this year?
Vasona Park in Los Gatos is a beautiful location that has fall foliage, a cute train with small tracks, and awesome bridges. It’s a beautiful spot to photograph however when you have a place this beautiful, it’s also very busy. Especially during the fall.
Many photographers love to photograph during golden hour (the time just before the sun sets) and the lighting is gorgeous during that time. But it’s also the busiest time for photographers and fall portraits, especially at this location.
If you’re thinking about fall portraits at Vasona Park, consider an early morning session.
This beautiful family fun session started early in the morning and the light is still beautiful, plus there was no need to wait in lines for photo spots.
Few other tips for your photos at Vasona Park:
• Super dog friendly
• It’s an active location for runners and bikers so pay attention to the Los Gatos creek trail so you don’t run into anyone
• Bathrooms are scarce
• Parking is $6 at the gate, you can park on the street for free but be prepared to walk a bit
• If you have little kids, there is one playground inside the park, there is also a short walk to Oak Meadow for the larger playground. I do love that there’s one small playground inside Vasona and it’s not really in view (depending where you’re photographing) because sometimes, if a kid sees a playground, that’s all they want to do
