What a fun session! This amazing family lives in Oakland and hadn’t been to The Gardens at Lake Merritt in Oakland before and the gardens were showing off! Flowers in bloom, secret hidden trails in the palm trees, a peaceful Japanese garden, and a beautiful combination of fall colors and greenery. A really beautiful garden tucked in Lake Merritt.
Location tip: they close early which is great for the fall season but can be trickier for the summer season. Plus, there are no public bathrooms. If you want to park close, parking is paid for but I think street parking would be harder to find.
Wardrobe tip: When you’re putting together wardrobe ideas, look for coordinating, not matching outfits. By having everyone wearing something different, it helps give your images depth as your eye wanders through each person in the image. It also helps show the personalities of each individual. Cool, right?!
So this family nailed it with the stylization of their wardrobe for their session. Their wardrobe of fall colors paired with mustard yellow and cream for the girls complimented each other beautifully. Plus mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors for photos!
