Tips on including your pets in your photos – Photos by Kim E – Authentic and Fun Photographer
Pets are a part of the family so I always love when they’re included in our sessions! So when you’re getting ready for your photos, whether it’s for family photos, or business branding, think about including your pets in your photos!
Here are some tips about including your pets in your photos:
1. Location:
If we’re photographing on location, make sure the location is dog-friendly. Some amazing places, trails, parks are not dog-friendly so you want to confirm that pets are welcome.
2. Props:
If they have a favorite squeak toy, bring that. If they love a chuck-it ball, bring that. Make sure to include the things that they love so they feel included.
3. Treats:
Definitely bring along those treats! Sometimes I’ll stick a treat on my lens to help them look at me or use that squeak toy for attention.
4. Patience/Obedience:
You know your pet best, so if your pet isn’t fully trained, doesn’t like strangers, likes to nip or is too much of a runner, keep those things in mind. Maybe instead of an outdoor location, we have our session at your home so we can include them for a few photos and then let them relax the rest of the time.
5. Cats:
I’m allergic to cats so if our session is at home and you want to include them, let me know so I can make sure to take an allergy pill 🙂
6: Any other pets:
I haven’t photographed too many other pets besides dogs, cats, and hamsters but if you have a bearded dragon, snake, or any other pet that you want to include, let’s do it!
